5.5 Fixture Libraries Tab

The Fixture Libraries Tab may be used to Create, Edit, Import, Export or Delete fixture libraries, on other consoles also called "Personalities" or "Fixture Types". It can be accessed from within the Menu.

The Fixture Libraries Tab consists of 3 different Library types used in the console. These are the Factory Library, User Library and Show Library.

The Factory Library is shipped with the console OS and may be updated by USB or Internet. It is read-only and can not be edited.

The User Library contains user created and modified fixtures and is available to all shows on the console.

The Show Library is unique for each show and contains the fixture types used in the show file.

The library type can be selected by clicking on the buttons on the left side of the view.


5.5.1 Fixture Libraries Magic Wand Popup

The Fixture Library Magic Wand popup provides all functionality to work with the Fixture Libraries tab.

It may be opened by clicking the Magic Wand magicWand icon button from within the Fixture Libraries tab. Many of the actions are only available if a Fixture Library is selected within the Fixture Library Table.

5.5.2 Adding a new Fixture Type

  1. To add a new fixture to the User or Show Library, first select the Library type from the Fixture Libraries Tab in the Menu.
  2. Open the Magic Wand popup by pressing the Magic Wand magicWand icon Button.
  3. Click on Add Fixture.
  4. Enter the Manufacturer Name, Fixture Type and Mode.
  5. Enter the amount of DMX Channels this fixture has (you can also add or delete channels later).
  6. Click on Ok.
  7. The Library Editor will be shown allowing you to assign functions to the channels and more. The library editor is explained in the section 5.6 The Fixture Library Editor

5.5.3 Deleting a Fixture Type

  1. To delete a fixture type, head to the Fixture Library Tab within the Menu.
  2. Select the fixture type you would like to delete.
  3. Open the Magic Wand popup by pressing the Magic Wand magicWand icon Button.
  4. Click on Delete Fixture.
  5. A Dialog asking for confirmation is shown. If you are sure, click on Yes.

5.5.4 Modifying a Fixture Type

  1. To edit or modify a fixture type, head to the Fixture Library Tab within the Menu.
  2. Select the fixture type you would like to edit from the User Library or Show Library. Please note that the factory library is read-only. If you would like to edit a fixture from the factory library, you first need to copy it to the User or Show Library using the Magic Wand popup..
  3. Open the Magic Wand popup by pressing the Magic Wand magicWand icon Button.
  4. Click on Edit Fixture.
  5. The Library Editor will be shown allowing you to assign functions to the channels and more. The library editor is explained in section 5.6 The Fixture Library Editor

5.5.5 Copying a Fixture Type between Libraries

Sometimes the need to copy fixtures between the different library types may arise. To do so, please follow these steps:

  1. To transfer a fixture type, head to the Fixture Library Tab within the Menu.
  2. Select the fixture type you would like to transfer.
  3. Open the Magic Wand popup by pressing the Magic Wand magicWand icon Button.
  4. Click on Transfer Fixture.
  5. A window will be shown asking you for the destination library type.

5.5.6 Importing Fixture Types from USB

  1. To import a fixture library from USB, head to the Fixture Library Tab within the Menu.
  2. Select the Library Type (User Library or Show Library).
  3. Make sure the fixture library file is in the showtec/library folder on your USB Key.
  4. Open the Magic Wand popup by pressing the Magic Wand magicWand icon Button.
  5. Click on Import Fixtures.
  6. A window will be shown asking you for the library file on your USB Stick.
  7. Click on Import.

5.5.7 Exporting Fixture Types from USB

  1. To export a fixture library to USB, head to the Fixture Library Tab within the Menu.
  2. Select the Library Type (Factory Library, User Library or Show Library).
  3. Select the fixtures you want to export.
  4. Open the Magic Wand popup by pressing the Magic Wand magicWand icon Button.
  5. Click on Export Fixtures.
  6. A keyboard will appear to enter a name for the file.
  7. Click on Ok.
